Keep River N.P.

Wednesday 15th June

Travelling along the road from Timber Creek on the way to Kununurra, we passed over several wide rivers and there were many areas of rocky escarpments

and the country has a lot of Boab trees, which have lost their leaves and some have small round fruits hanging on them, almost like Christmas balls.

We decided to have a look at Keep River N.P., which is about  45 km before Kununurra. When we arrived at about 1pm we found there was only one campsite left! It is a really beautiful park.

The campground is quite spacious and lots of trees; just drop toilets, no showers, but the scenery on the walk is stunningly beautiful – the same type of rock formations as the Bungle Bungle.

R took a photo of a beautiful, big butterfly (he thinks it is a Chequered Swallowtail)

and a Pied Butcherbird that came around the camp.

There were lots of Grevilleas, Wattles, Palms, Eucs, and the tall dry Cane Grass.

The walk was not too steep, and at every turn there was a different, beautiful scene.
